Tony Frissore Centers Veterans’ Stories in the “Stolen Valor” Rollout
Tony Frissore describes a rollout inviting veterans to explain their own reasons for serving.
Tony Frissore has described a personal approach to the rollout of “Stolen Valor”: inviting veterans to explain what led them to serve.
In a September 26 note to FVTV, Frissore outlined an Instagram campaign focused on those individual reasons. He said he was interested in hearing the different motivations behind the decision to join, giving participants room to tell that part of their story themselves.
Frissore also said he would ask before sharing responses as part of the project. That makes voluntary participation central to the campaign he described, with the people responding retaining a say in whether their contributions are shared.
“Stolen Valor” was submitted to FVTV with AXIOM named as the featured collaborator. The artist’s brief supplies the rollout’s focus without requiring veterans’ experiences to be guessed at or put into someone else’s words.
